Our next Parent Group meeting is for FAMILIES!
Music-Based Practical Skills Development Workshop
Bring your family to learn practical skills through music based activities!
Through music-based activities, participants will
- learn how to use positive self-talk
- develop turn taking
- manage impulse control
- gain a deeper connection with parents/caregivers or child
- improve self-regulation skills
Each activity is designed for parents/caregivers and children to learn together. At least one adult must remain with children. The primary audience is children 5-10 years of age, but everyone can enjoy learning through music.
The goal for this workshop is that parents/caregivers feel empowered to practice the activities at home. Each family will have access to the materials provided at the event for at-home-practice. Please RSVP from the button below to let us know you're coming so we can have space and materials available.
We’ll attempt to broadcast to those who prefer to stay at home or can't make the drive, but due to the interactive nature of the event, this may provide a limited experience. Sign up here to get the Zoom link - just indicate that you’d like the Zoom link.
This workshop is led by a board-certified music therapist and the founder of Meaning Through Music, Natalie Hawkins. Natalie has worked in special education and with families for nearly 5 years and has developed curriculums through her experiences as a music therapist.

Growing Your Child's Calm through Connection and Self-Care
Dr. Caroline Danda will provide a brief overview of the brain-body connection and the neuroscience of growing your calm at our November Parent’s Group meeting. She will discuss ways that you can not only grow your calm as a caregiver but also support strengthening the calming ability of your child's nervous system and explore different activities to explore growing connection with your child.
Caroline Danda, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for children and adolescents.
She also is co-founder and author of The Invisible Riptide series and website. The series is designed to help children and families understand the interaction of emotions, physical well-being, and connection to others so they can learn to navigate life’s challenging situations, develop their strengths, and find their voices. The goal is to provide resources that open dialogues about mental health and resilience in the community.
