From 0 to 100: Tools for When Your Feelings Explode
Ever had one comment ruin your whole day?
Ever gone from totally fine to completely overwhelmed in seconds?
If you have ADHD, your emotional alarm system can fire fast — especially when it feels like someone is criticizing you, ignoring you, or rejecting you.
In this interactive online session, we’ll break down:
🔥 Why rejection and criticism can feel so intense
🧠 What’s actually happening in your brain
💥 Why you might go from 0 to 100 in seconds
🛠 Practical tools you can use to slow things down
🎯 Real-life strategies you can try immediately
This isn’t about “being less sensitive.”
It’s about understanding your brain — and learning how to work with it.
You’ll leave with tools you can use the very next time your feelings start to explode.
This session is designed to be educational and interactive. Students can participate through chat, polls, and discussion (sharing is always optional).
About the speaker
Dr. Kristen Stuppy is a Kansas City pediatrician dedicated to helping kids understand and manage their ADHD. In her clinical work she prescribes medication when needed, but she also knows that many families face real barriers to accessing therapy or coaching. By leading these monthly ADHDKC events, she creates an accessible way for middle and high schoolers to learn practical tools, build lifelong skills, and feel supported along the way.
Important Information
This session is presented by a licensed physician and is intended to provide general information, guidance, and support around ADHD-related topics. While we’ll cover helpful strategies and leave time for questions and discussion, please keep in mind that this presentation is not a substitute for personalized medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
All participants must agree to CHADD’s Participation Agreement before attending:
If you have specific concerns about your own situation or that of a loved one, we encourage you to follow up with your healthcare provider or a qualified mental health professional.
We also ask that everyone respect the privacy of others and help us maintain a supportive, inclusive space for open dialogue.
👥 Who Can Join?
Any middle or high school student — diagnosed with ADHD, questioning symptoms but not officially diagnosed, or simply wanting to understand motivation, distraction, or procrastination.
You do not need to be a member of CHADD or ADHDKC — but we encourage parents to join CHADD for even more benefits!
To help keep this a safe and supportive space for all participants, we ask that everyone:
Turn on their video briefly at the start of the event so our moderators can verify attendance.
Use the same name on Zoom that was used on the RSVP form to help us confirm identities.
You do not need a camera on the whole time. Just bring yourself, curiosity, and a willingness to try something new.
Parents or caregivers are welcome to join alongside their teen if their teen would like the extra support. However, adults attending without a teen will not be admitted unless they have been specifically invited by ADHDKCTeen administration. This policy helps us maintain a safe environment for the youth participating.
Everyone in attendance must agree to the CHADD Participation Agreement.
