Update: See the recording of this on
Medications are the first line treatment recommended for those with ADHD, but side effects sometimes affect treatment or lead to stopping treatment.
This free online event is appropriate for adolescents and adults who struggle to manage their medication side effects as well as parents.
The risk of not adequately treating ADHD is real, so learning how to manage the side effects of medications is important. In this talk you will learn:
the most common side effects of medications
actionable steps to take for each of the most common side effects for better tolerance
identify when it’s time to change the treatment plan
We’ll use an app to facilitate participation from all in attendance.
When:
November 14, 2023, at 7:00 PM CST
Where:
**** The in-person option was removed due to low demand. ****
Who:
Parents of kids with ADHD, Adolescents and Adults with ADHD, or anyone who wants to learn how to manage common side effects of the medications used to treat ADHD.
Do you want to join us in person?
When the pandemic forced us to have only online events, we routinely were asked when we would have in person events again. There was a lot of interest, but since resuming the in-person events, attendance has been spotty.
ADHDKC board members and speakers are all volunteers and Horizon Academy keeps their doors open for our group at their own expense. ADHDKC volunteers and Horizon Academy staff want to bring helpful information to the public, but when there is low interest, it is simply not feasible to spend our time on this offering.
When there is low interest for in-person options each month, we will only offer the event online. While we think there’s a benefit to those in attendance to chat and learn from one another, if it is not well utilized this value diminishes and the amount of work is not worth all the volunteers’ time.
If you want in person events, please sign up and encourage your friends to do the same. Feel free to share our newsletter each month to spread awareness and grow the audience.
December: Save the date - December 5th at 7:00 PM
Beckham Linton from Heartland Social Learning will talk about a Communication Map. This is a tool for parents to learn how to communicate with family members more effectively.
