Growing Your Child's Calm through Connection and Self-Care
Dr. Caroline Danda will provide a brief overview of the brain-body connection and the neuroscience of growing your calm at our November Parent’s Group meeting. She will discuss ways that you can not only grow your calm as a caregiver but also support strengthening the calming ability of your child's nervous system and explore different activities to explore growing connection with your child.
Caroline Danda, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for children and adolescents.
She also is co-founder and author of The Invisible Riptide series and website. The series is designed to help children and families understand the interaction of emotions, physical well-being, and connection to others so they can learn to navigate life’s challenging situations, develop their strengths, and find their voices. The goal is to provide resources that open dialogues about mental health and resilience in the community.

It’s Parent Teacher Conference Time!
Go prepared
Are you the parent of a school aged child? Parent Teacher Conferences are happening soon. Prepare for your meeting with the tips on Understood.org’s Parent Teacher Conferences resource pages.
School is hard for parents as well as students. It can be challenging for parents of students with ADHD to help educate teachers about ADHD and how it impacts students.
CHADD can make this easier. Through their emails, webinars, teacher training, and award-winning Attention magazine, CHADD helps to educate teachers about the nuances of ADHD from an evidence-based perspective.
If you’re really wanting the teacher to join, gift them a membership. See below for a few quick tips on how to fill out the membership form from the button below. This is a $53 cost that is worth much more than the typical token gift to teacher. We’re also including a link to a customizable gift card you that you can print and share with your child's teacher.
How To Gift Your Child's Teacher a CHADD Membership
Click the button above to visit the membership page and complete the registration.
Use your teacher's first and last name, their school email address, and the physical mailing address of the school (important so they receive their Attention Magazine subscription).
For Local Chapter, select "ADHDKC".
For birthdate, you can simply use 12/12/1985.
For the “ADHD and You” and “Professional Title” sections, answer as the teacher would - they are educators.
For login and password, use your teacher's email address as the login and their school name as the password. Don't forget to give them this information! You can use this printable card to provide them with information about their gift and membership.
Share your experiences with our other parents at our next ADHDKC Parent Group meeting!
Calling all Middle and High School Students!
ADHDKCTeen is our group for middle and high schoolers. It meets at 7:30 pm on the 1st Tuesday of the month unless otherwise noted. Sign up to get an invitation to join us on Zoom - you only need to register once to join any of our meetings. Topics are chosen by the participants at the end of each meeting for the next meeting.
In October we’ll talk about Anger Management. We hope you can join us!
One of the most common requests ADHDKC receives is for a place for adults with ADHD to gather, learn, and support one another.
We’re happy to announce that a new Adults with ADHD Group is forming! This small group will meet monthly. Watch our website and social sites to find out more. Information will be posted soon!
