Exploring Coping Skills and Strategies for Staying Consistent
Event Details
Date: July 5th
Time: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Lenexa City Center Library, Meeting Room 2
Don’t miss updates about our Book Club below the Adult Group Event information!
You found a planner system that worked perfectly... for a week.
You started exercising regularly... until life got busy.
You finally discovered a coping strategy that helped you stay focused, manage emotions, or reduce stress... and then somehow stopped using it.
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
Many adults with ADHD don’t struggle because they lack good strategies—they struggle because consistency can be one of the hardest executive function skills to maintain. Even when we know something helps, it can be difficult to remember it, prioritize it, or keep it going when routines change.
Join us for an open and supportive discussion as we explore:
Why consistency can be challenging for ADHD brains
Common obstacles that derail helpful routines and coping strategies
Ways to make self-care and support systems easier to maintain
How to recover when you’ve fallen off track without shame or self-criticism
Practical strategies for building sustainability instead of perfection
During the discussion portion of the meeting, participants are encouraged to bring a coping skill, routine, tool, app, mindset shift, or strategy that has helped them. Whether it’s something you’ve used for years or something you recently discovered, your experience may help someone else in the group.
No preparation is required, and sharing is always optional.
Who Should Attend?
This group is designed for adults with ADHD, adults who suspect they may have ADHD, and adults interested in learning more about ADHD-related challenges and strengths. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been managing ADHD for years, you’ll find a welcoming community of people who understand.

📚 ADHDKC Book Club: Join the Conversation!
We’re currently reading ADHD 2.0 by Dr. Edward Hallowell and Dr. John Ratey together as part of the new ADHDKC Book Club, and we’d love for you to join us!
Each week, we’re posting discussion questions in our online community to help us explore the book’s ideas, share experiences, and learn from one another. You can follow along at your own pace and participate whenever it works for you. ADHDKC’s online forums are designed to keep learning and connection going between events, whether you attend meetings, engage online, or both.
👉 Join the discussion at: ADHDKC Online Groups & Forums
We’ll wrap up this first book with a live online discussion on Thursday, August 6 at 7:00 PM: ADHD Book Club: ADHD 2.0 Discussion Meeting
Haven’t started the book?
Didn’t finish a chapter?
Not planning to read it at all?
You’re still welcome.
Some of the best learning happens when people share their questions, experiences, and perspectives. The more people who participate, the more we all learn. So jump into the discussion, react to a post, ask a question, or share something that resonated with you. Every contribution adds value.
Whether you’re reading every page, listening to the audiobook, skimming a chapter, or simply curious about ADHD, we’d love to have you as part of the conversation. 📖💙
