You’ve made the workout plan. Packed the backpack. Set the reminders.
And then… when the moment comes… something happens in the back of the mind.
But what?
If you’ve ever wondered why getting started can feel so hard — for your child or for yourself — you’re not alone. And you’re not lazy, unmotivated, or doing it wrong. There’s real brain science behind those moments.
Join us for our next ADHDKC Parent Group as ADHD coach Mike Legett offers a no-PhD-necessary look at how brains decide what feels “worth it”… and what doesn’t. Using clear, relatable language, Mike will walk us through fascinating neuroscience concepts around decision-making and help us understand the hidden mental calculations happening behind the scenes — and how ADHD changes the equation.
Together, we’ll explore:
Why good intentions don’t always lead to action
How ADHD impacts motivation and decision-making
A simple framework for understanding “stuck” moments
How to build more compassion for your child — and yourself
Practical ways to make tools and strategies work more effectively
Whether your child has ADHD, you do, or both — this conversation can help you move from frustration and confusion toward clarity, curiosity, and more workable solutions.
About Our Speaker
Mike Legett is a proud self-proclaimed nerd with a background in both science and art. She loves dancing, D&D, spreadsheets, cats, and a warm cup of tea (when she remembers to drink it before it gets cold). Passionate about learning, Mike experienced firsthand how traditional academic environments can fail neurodivergent thinkers. After leaving a PhD program in genetics, she spent 15 years as an internationally recognized Swing and Blues dance instructor, helping adults clarify their values and move toward meaningful goals. Today, as an ADHD coach, Mike supports clients in moving beyond overwhelm, shame, and frustration — and toward curiosity, delight, and momentum.
Who Should Attend
Parents and caregivers of kids or teens with ADHD
Adults with ADHD or executive functioning challenges
Educators and professionals who support neurodivergent learners
Anyone curious about the neuroscience of motivation and decision-making
This is a free online event, but registration is required.
We hope you’ll join us for an evening of learning, connection, and compassionate understanding. Bring your questions — and maybe that cup of tea you forgot to finish earlier.
