🦉 Upcoming Talks: Neuroscience, “Doom Piles,” and Executive Function
from your Kansas City CHADD Chapter - ADHDKC
Hi ADHDKC Community and Virtual Friends from Everywhere,
Spring is here - or maybe it will snow and feel like winter again. Who can keep up with the Kansas weather?
Regardless of the weather, we have a packed calendar of events designed to help you understand your brain (or your child’s brain) a little better. We even have online events just for middle and high school students. From the “animals” in our heads to a panel of women talking about executive functioning, to the neuroscience of procrastination, we’re diving deep into the topics you’ve asked for most.
Here is what’s coming up in April and May 2026 - all are free and open to the public but an RSVP is required so we can plan accordingly.
🗓️ April Events
The Animals of Our Brain
When: Tuesday, April 7 | 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Where: Online
Who: Middle and High School Students
The Scoop: Ever feel like your emotions are out of control? Learn how to calm the chaos with the help of some animal friends and pediatricians Kristen Stuppy and Jennifer Dilts. This is a great session for students looking to simplify complex neuroscience into actionable self-control.
Pro Tip: Once you register, you can join the dedicated ADHDKCTeen online group to stay updated and connect with other attendees before the meeting starts! Session handouts will be shared in this safe space moderated by Dr. Stuppy, Dr. Dilts, and other ADHDKC Board members.
Wired, Tired, and Hungry
When: Tuesday, April 14 | 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Where: Online
Who: Parents, Educators & Adults wanting to learn
The Scoop: Join Dr. Matthew Lindquist to explore the fascinating (and often frustrating) link between ADHD and the regulation of sleep, appetite, and energy. We’ll discuss why binge eating and anxiety often travel alongside ADHD and how to manage the “wired but tired” cycle.
Doom Piles & Deadlines
When: Sunday, April 19 | 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Where: Lenexa City Center Library (8778 Penrose Lane)
Who: Adults diagnosed with ADHD, considering the diagnosis, or just curious
The Scoop: Why do we wait until the last minute? We’re unpacking the real neuroscience of procrastination—from dopamine circuits to time blindness. We’ll also tackle the infamous “DOOM” (Didn’t Organize, Only Moved) piles with strategies that actually work for ADHD brains.
Moderators Nic and Abbie will start us off with a brief introduction to the topic, and then—true to Adults Group style—everyone will have a chance to share, reflect, and discuss in a supportive, judgment-free space. You’re welcome to participate as much or as little as feels right for you.
Executive Function Panel
When: Sunday, April 26 | 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Where: Central Resource Library (87th & Farley)
Who: Women diagnosed with ADHD, considering the diagnosis, or just curious
The Scoop: You asked, and we delivered! We’re bringing together a panel of experts to answer your burning questions about Executive Function. Whether it’s task initiation, working memory, or emotional regulation, our experts are here to help.

When: Tuesday, May 12 | 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Where: Online
Who: Parents, Educators & Adults wanting to learn
The Scoop: Join ADHD coach Mike Legett for a “no-PhD-necessary” look at how our brains decide what is “worth it.” Learn why the ADHD brain struggles with certain decisions and take home strategies to help make the right call more often.

We can’t wait to see you there (virtually or in person)!
Best,
